Glossary

Aromatherapy – A complementary therapy based on the healing properties of essential plant oils. The oils are usually massaged into the body, but they can be inhaled, used on a bath or in a cold compress placed next to the skin.

Flower Essences  - Flower Essences are not therapeutic drugs – but work on the mind, body and spirit and are obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the most evolved part of the plant – the flowers. They work on an emotional level, harmonizing negative feelings and belief patterns, held in the subconscious mind.

Chakras - The seven major energy centers in the astral body; they correspond to nerve centers located along the spine in the physical body.

Channeling - The act or practice of serving as a medium through which a spirit guide purportedly communicates with living.

Energy Healing – A holistic and natural approach of gently balancing  the life energies by removing energy blocks in the body so that healing energy many flow freely to heal and remove the symptoms which are usually caused by anger, stress, fear, anxiety, depression, etc.

Homeopathy – A system for the treatment of disease by minute doses of natural substances that in a healthy person would produce symptoms of disease.

Hypnosis - is a cooperative interaction in which the participant responds to the suggestions of the hypnotist.  The technique has also been clinically proven to provide medical and therapeutic benefits, most notably in the reduction of pain and anxiety.

Intuitive Counseling – is a combined technique of counseling skills and intuitive abilities. Through intuitive counseling, a counselor uses his or her intuitive abilities to access information that may not be known by the conscious mind.

Life Coaching – is a practice that helps people identify and achieve personal goals. Life coaches help clients set and reach goals using a variety of tools and techniques. Life coaching is not the same as therapy or consulting.

Massage - is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being.

Meditation – the practice of continued or extended thought; reflection; contemplation.

Mediumship – the ability of a person to communicate between the living and the dead.

Past Life Regression – is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations.

Qigong - is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.
